Spirit of Service Shining Through Employee Volunteerism

Rooted in our service and hospitality culture, thousands of Aramark employees give back to their communities around the world – demonstrating a true passion to do great things for our people, our partners, our communities, and our planet.

Aramark volunteers in Camden, New Jersey

Over the last two years through the COVID-19 pandemic, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to helping those in need. Whether through company-sponsored volunteer programs or individual volunteer efforts, our employees’ spirit of service continues to shine.

 

Meet a few members of our Aramark team who are leading the way in serving their local communities.

 

Sean Ames

District Manager, Destinations

Throughout his career, Sean has worked to ensure that everyone has fair opportunities. At Aramark, he serves as our Team Lead for HBCU Campus Recruiting and founded the New York and Philadelphia Regional Hubs of LEAD, our employee resource group dedicated to cultivating Black leaders at Aramark. Additionally, he supports the Urban League of Philadelphia, the NAACP New York Chapter, and The Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council.

 

Dorothy Cadet, MS, RDN, LD

Unit Finance Controller, K – 12

Dorothy inspires those around her with her commitment to serving others. This year, she has led multiple volunteer efforts – personally engaging three new project leaders and encouraging others to lead their own activities. Dorothy has helped coordinate efforts with one of our community partners Kyle’s Place, a homeless shelter in Denton County, Texas that houses and cares for teens experiencing homelessness.

 

María Francisca Hernández Scianca

Head of Sustainability Department, Aramark Chile

Aramark is committed to doing great things globally, and Francisca leads our community efforts in South America. She incorporates sustainable practices in community service projects and supports local NGOs in developing their own successful implementation of sustainable practices.

 

Debbie Malaczewski

Executive Administrative Assistant, Safety and Risk Solutions, Corporate

Debbie goes above and beyond in support of her local community. As a veteran supporter of Aramark Building Community, our global volunteer program, she has led our annual holiday toy drive and has promoted community efforts for Impacto, our employee resource group that proudly contributes to a multicultural workforce and provides valuable resources for Hispanic marketplace insights.

 

Jeff Tharpe

National Account Manager, Aramark Uniform Services

After the March 2020 Nashville tornados and the 2021 flooding in Waverly, Tennessee, Jeff supported large-scale recovery efforts. Through Aramark’s Nashville Star Team, Jeff and other leaders support the Martha O’Bryan Center and worked with the Arbor Day Foundation, to plant and distribute 200 trees to the neighborhoods affected by the natural disasters.

“I’m always impressed by the countless ways one person can help another, by how a simple act of kindness can change someone’s day,” says Jami Leveen, Vice President of Community Partnerships, whose role is to foster a culture of purpose at Aramark. “Every single person has the ability to make a difference and create these moments that matter.”

 

Aramark’s approach to community is about generating net impact. Community-supported volunteer projects must align with at least one of three goals: driving economic independence through education and employment, increasing access to healthy food and nutrition education, or building vibrant and sustainable communities. The goal is to create a positive experience for the volunteers, the community, and the people we directly support.

Spirit of Service Shining Through Employee Volunteerism

Throughout his career, Sean has worked to ensure that everyone has fair opportunities.
