Houston Texans Culinary team is dedicated to creating delicious, nutritious meals that are easy to prepare and enjoy. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Line/production Cook to join our dynamic team in our kitchen. If you have a love for culinary excellence and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.
As a Line/production cook at the Texan’s Cafe, you will play a crucial role in meal preparation and production in a high-volume, commercial kitchen setting. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and safety while working collaboratively with our culinary chefs.
Prepares batches of food that are cooked to order or kept warm until ordered and sold; this may include a variety of cuisines.
Operates large-volume cooking equipment such as griddles, tilt skillet, grills, impinger, or combi-ovens.
Prepares and cooks food according to instructions provided on food order slips or through verbal directions; verifies the quality and quantity of all orders.
Multitasks by cooking several different orders at once, ensuring that all items are prepared in accordance with managers instructions.
Maintains overall sanitation, health, cleanliness, and safety standards for food preparation areas, cooking services, and dishes and utensils
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic understanding of or ability to learn basic sanitation, regulations for workplace safety, to learn food-handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
Ability to work efficiently and quickly and be able to collaborate with the kitchen team.
Must be able to work well as part of a team and work well under pressure.
Prepare and cook high-quality meals following established recipes and production standards.
Ensure consistency and precision in food preparation, portioning, and presentation.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace in compliance with food safety regulations.
Assist in inventory management, including receiving and storing deliveries.
Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards, focusing on taste, presentation, and quality.

ServSafe Certified or City of Houston Food Manager Certification
High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred.
At least 4 years line cook experience in high volume a’ la minute cuisine restaurant.
Proven experience as a line chef, production chef, or in a similar role in a commercial kitchen setting.
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Flexibility to work some weekends as needed.
Passion for food and commitment to culinary excellence.
Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
