We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations at our remote lodge within Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the lodge, with responsibilities that include managing the front desk, housekeeping, and courtesy transportation services for guests. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, capable of managing multiple departments and providing exceptional service in a remote, high-demand setting.
About Glacier Bay Lodge & Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve:

Glacier Bay Lodge is a small 50-room lodge nestled in between coastal mountains, incredible fjords, and Alaska's Inside Passage and is a remote wilderness experience you don’t want to miss. The only way to travel to us is by air or sea from Juneau to the friendly little town of Gustavus, your Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve.
Celebrate the Centennial/100-year anniversary of this beautiful park while enjoying everything this remote park has to offer! With brand new housing and upgraded internet connectivity now available, become a part of our small family of around 50 employees for the summer of a lifetime!
This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of <INSERT DATES> 2025.

Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training.
1. Front Desk Operations
Oversee front desk staff, ensuring smooth check-in and check-out processes for guests.
Manage guest reservations, ensuring accuracy and timely updates to availability.
Address guest inquiries and concerns in a professional, timely, and courteous manner.
Monitor front desk performance and provide guidance and training to staff as needed.
2. Housekeeping Management
Supervise housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms, common areas, and staff quarters are maintained to the highest cleanliness standards.
Coordinate housekeeping schedules, ensuring rooms are cleaned and prepared for guests in a timely manner.
Manage inventory of housekeeping supplies and ensure proper stock levels.
Work closely with housekeeping staff to monitor and address any maintenance or operational issues that arise.
3. Courtesy Transportation
Oversee and coordinate guest transportation services, ensuring timely and safe transport to key areas within the area and lodge.
Schedule and manage the use of lodge vehicles, ensuring they are properly maintained and available when needed.
Provide guidance and training to drivers to ensure guest safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
4. Staff Management and Training
Train and schedule staff for front desk, housekeeping, and transportation departments.
Foster a positive work environment, providing leadership and support to team members.
Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback, coaching, and ensuring staff development.
5. Operational Efficiency and Budget Management
Monitor day-to-day operations to ensure the lodge runs efficiently, with a focus on guest satisfaction and cost control.
Assist with budgeting and cost management, ensuring the departments operate within budgetary constraints.
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and suggest improvements to optimize performance.
6. Safety, Compliance, and Maintenance
Ensure all safety protocols are adhered to in guest service areas, transportation, and employee operations.
Work with maintenance teams to ensure the lodge’s physical space, equipment, and transportation vehicles are well-maintained and safe for use.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations, including health and safety standards.

At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in the related field.
Requires High School diploma or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Must be able to work efficiently and independently
Requires ability to solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business in both the short and long term.
Must have the ability to multi-task, as success in this role will be defined as being able to think quickly and adjust/adapt as necessary to accomplish goals.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, assisting the team on inquiries and concerns, as well as resolving production complaints.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to respond quickly to changing demands.
Strong customer service principles and practices are required.
Must have the ability to influence without having direct authority.
The ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders, to include various levels.
