Job Description

Aramark Correctional Services is adding a Food Service Manager to oversee the kitchen operations at the Harris County jail in downtown Houston, Texas. Work involves managing food preparation, production, and serving; supervising sanitation; overseeing and providing direction to staff including lower-level corrections food service managers, supervisors, food service workers and inmate workers. Implementing training programs for food service staff; and evaluating on-the-job food service training provided to inmate workers. Work also includes maintaining safe working conditions, ensuring staff are complying with established food sanitation and safety standards, and enforcing security and custody regulations in all work areas.

Job Responsibilities

· Leadership: Leverage Aramark's coaching model to engage and develop team members to their fullest potential. Reward and recognize employees. Ensure individual and team performance meets objectives and client expectations. Plan and lead daily team briefings. Ensure safety and sanitation standards in all operations.

· Client Relationship: Maintain effective client and customer rapport for mutually beneficial business relationships. Identify client needs and communicate operational progress. Demonstrate excellent customer service using Aramark's standard service model.

· Financial Performance: Ensure the recipe compliance and forecasting of food service production are adhered too. Adopts all Aramark processes and systems, understand performance metrics, data, order and inventory trends; educate teams on key levers to improve margins.

· Productivity: Create value through efficient operations, appropriate cost controls, and profit management. Comply with the Operational Excellence fundamentals by meeting and maintaining food and labor initiatives. Ensure entire team is trained and able to execute. Supervise team regarding production, quality and control.

· Compliance: Maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients, customers and employees. Comply with all applicable policies, rules and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to safety, health, and wage and hour.

Qualifications

 

  • Must be able to pass a felony background check, drug screen and TB test
  • Must be able to work one weekend day and some holidays.
  • Will oversee supervise/train inmate workers, Aramark Food Service Workers and other staff as needed in a secure kitchen location.
  • Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years food service management experience, preferably in an institutional or correctional food service environment.
  • Experience managing a dispersed workforce that includes salaried and hourly associates.
  • Requires management and leadership skills and the ability to work with confidential employee, client and Aramark information.
  • Demonstrated ability to responding effectively and efficiently to changing client demands.
