Job Description

The Driver II has a valid CDL-A license and will operate automatic day cab tractors and trailers over the road, making deliveries to correctional institutions in the region while operating safely over the road in compliance with federal regulations and with a high level of customer service in mind.

Job Responsibilities

  • Loads trailer(s) via pallet jacks as necessary and straps/secures pallets as necessary to prevent damage in transit.
  • Delivers merchandise on customers' premises via pallet jack, liftgate, dolly, and/or by hand as necessary and obtains receipt for goods. Verifies load against shipping papers.
  • Delivers inventory/supply transfers to company facilities based on operational needs and verifies load against shipping papers prior to loading and after delivery.
  • Work week is a Monday-Friday shift with flexibility needed for overnights throughout the week (drivers are put up in hotels at the company's expense, and they are always home on Friday night and are not required to make weekend deliveries except in emergency situations).
  • Runs consistent routes each week (will be fixed unless operational needs require a change).
  • Drives tractor/trailer to destination applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area.
  • Maintains truck log according to Aramark regulations.
  • Performs thorough daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required by Aramark regulations.
  • Does not use Truck or Company fuel/credit card for any personal matters

Qualifications

  • Must be age 21 years or older
  • 2 year + professional driving experience and vehicle mechanical experience is preferred as well as customer service experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
  • Must have a valid CDL-A license with a clean driving record showing 5 years of prior safe driving
  • Must pass a DOT physical examination and obtain a medical card
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and participate in the random drug/alcohol testing pool
  • Must complete and pass Defensive Driving Course prior to driving a company vehicle 
  • Experience driving in all weather conditions including winter weather and tire chain installation
  • Travel Requirements: Little or no travel required (less than 10%)

 

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, pushing/pulling pallets up to 2,000 lbs on/of a truck with a pallet jack, breaking down and stacking boxes weighing 50+ lbs as necessary, etc. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
