Job Description

The Student Run Coffee Shop Program at the ARTisan Cafe is an innovative initiative designed to provide students with real world experience in entrepreneurship business management and customer service. Operated by students this program transforms a campus space into a vibrant coffee shop that serves as a hub for the university community. The program aims to empower students by giving them hands on experience in running a business. From sourcing coffee beans from local producers to managing daily operations students are involved in every aspect of the shop. They learn valuable skills in marketing finance supply chain management and leadership all while fostering a sense of community on campus. The coffee shop is open throughout the academic year. Students take on various roles such as baristas managers marketing coordinators and finance officers ensuring that the shop runs smoothly and efficiently. Through the program students gain practical experience that complements their academic studies. They are responsible for creating business strategies managing budgets and delivering excellent customer service. The Student Run Coffee Shop Program at the ARTisan Cafe is more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee it’s a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for future careers while enhancing campus life. It’s a testament to the creativity dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of the student body.

 

COMPENSATION: The hourly compensation range for this position is $15.00 to $15.00.   Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission.   This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time and for any reason, including, but not limited to, for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Additional benefits may include retirement savings plans like 401(k) and paid days off such as parental leave and disability coverage. Hourly eligible benefits vary by location and are subject to any legal requirements or limitations, employee eligibility status, and where the employee lives and/or works.

Job Responsibilities

  • Sculpt a creative coffee plan across Towson University’s campus
  • Responsible for nurturing local philanthropic partnerships with local coffee bean producers including Aveley Farms Coffee Roasters and Matriarch Coffee brands
  • Create quarterly business reviews and present them to the Tiger Hospitality Aramark executive leadership team at Towson University
  • Work alongside the student executive team to determine and pursue opportunities for student engagement on the campus coffee program including campus participation and student employment
  • Create, update, and maintain overall strategy for the coffee operations across Towson University
  • Work closely with the student executive team to meet program goals and set team deadlines
  • Directly recruit for the student employment opportunities available to Towson University students in the Coffee programs

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled as a student at Towson University
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and lift, push, pull, or carry up to 30 lbs
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended time periods
  • The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of business and entrepreneurship
  • Position requires working with heated equipment and steam
