Food Safety Sr Specialist
Food Safety Sr Specialist
Job Description
Aramark is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist to support assigned operations within a client account, business unit, portfolio, or geographic region. This role serves as the primary in-field safety advisor and business partner for assigned operations, supporting implementation and continuous improvement of Aramark's safety, health, environmental, food safety, and risk management programs.
The Senior Safety Specialist reports directly to the designated Safety & Risk Solutions leader, who provides functional leadership, technical direction, professional development, and alignment with Aramark safety and risk programs and standards. The role also maintains a matrix relationship with the designated operational or account leader, who provides business context, operating priorities, and day-to-day partnership. The Senior Safety Specialist advises, assesses, coaches, and supports improvement; operational leadership remains accountable for safe operational execution and completion of operational corrective actions.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary in-field safety and risk resource for assigned accounts, locations, business units, portfolios, or regions.
- Partner with the designated operational or account leader to integrate safety and risk considerations into daily business activities, decisions, and priorities, while maintaining functional direction through Safety & Risk Solutions.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of Aramark's safety and risk programs, standards, processes, and SAFE Commitment.
- Conduct and support audits, inspections, risk assessments, and operational reviews; identify hazards and compliance gaps; and partner with responsible operational leaders to define, assign, and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead and support investigations involving injuries, incidents, vehicle accidents, property losses, food safety events, and other applicable events; communicate lessons learned and monitor corrective-action closure.
- Develop and facilitate safety training, coaching, communications, and engagement initiatives that strengthen leadership capability and employee participation.
- Provide guidance across occupational safety, food safety and sanitation, environmental compliance, and related risk areas based on the operation's scope and risk profile.
- Analyze incidents, audit findings, operational observations, and available performance information to identify trends and recommend practical risk-reduction strategies.
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory authorities, Safety & Risk Solutions, Operations, and internal partners on safety and compliance matters; escalate significant or emerging risks as appropriate.
- Provide safety and risk support for mobilizations, transitions, new openings, operational changes, and other business initiatives as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Food Science, Risk Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant education, experience, training, and certifications may be considered.
- Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in occupational safety, Environmental Health & Safety, food safety, risk management, quality assurance, or a related field.
- Experience with audits, inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, training, and operational safety programs.
- Working knowledge of occupational safety, food safety and sanitation, environmental, and regulatory requirements relevant to the assignment.
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical requirements into practical operational guidance and effectively partner with frontline teams, operational leaders, clients, and functional resources.
- Experience supporting complex, client-facing, multi-site, hospitality, foodservice, or similarly operationally intensive environments preferred.
- Relevant professional credentials such as OSHA 10/30, ServSafe Manager, HACCP, ASP, CSP, or comparable safety, EHS, food safety, risk, or quality credentials preferred; specific credentials may be required based on the assignment.
Success Factors
The ideal candidate combines credible technical safety expertise with operational awareness, sound judgment, strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills. Success requires the ability to work effectively within a dual-accountability model: following functional direction from Safety & Risk Solutions while building a strong day-to-day partnership with Operations. The individual must influence without direct authority, escalate significant risks appropriately, and translate safety expectations into practical business solutions.
