Director of Consumer Insights (Remote)

Job Description

The Director of Consumer Insights will play a pivotal role in shaping dining experiences across our partner institutions in the higher education sector. This position will work closely with their supervisor to drive transformative change in dining experiences across our partner institutions in the higher education sector. This position is responsible for leading the collection, analysis, and application of consumer data to inform strategic decision-making and operational improvements. The Director will work closely with internal teams and clients to translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations, ensuring that dining services continuously meet and exceed client and consumer expectations.

 

This position can be fully remote. 

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Insight Development:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive consumer insights strategy to guide dining services across multiple higher education institutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and client representatives to align consumer insights with business objectives and operational strategies.
  • Translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations to improve dining services and enhance client satisfaction.


Research and Analysis:

  • Design and execute research initiatives, such as surveys, focus groups, and market analyses, to gather feedback from clients, parents, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, preferences, and areas for improvement in dining services.
  • Utilize advanced analytics tools and methodologies to generate reports and present findings to internal stakeholders and clients.


Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary point of contact for consumer insights with client institutions, ensuring alignment with their needs and expectations.
Present insights, recommendations, and strategic plans to clients and internal teams, facilitating informed decision-making.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including campus dining committees and student organizations.

Program Evaluation and Enhancement:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of dining programs and initiatives through continuous feedback and performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for program enhancements and innovations based on consumer preferences and industry trends.
  • Lead the implementation of recommended changes and assess their impact on dining experiences and client satisfaction.


Team Leadership:

  • Partner with the corporate insights team and third-party consumer insights professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement within the Student Experience team and across client accounts.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sociology, Analytics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of experience in consumer insights, market research, or a related role, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
Proven experience in the higher education or food service industry is highly desirable.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong analytical skills with expertise in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Proficiency in research methodologies, statistical tools, and analytics software.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex insights in a clear and compelling manner.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
A passion for enhancing the dining experience and contributing to the overall success of the university community.
Working Conditions:
This position may require occasional travel to partner institutions and client locations to present insights and conduct research. The Director of Consumer Insights will work in a dynamic environment that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
