Job Description

We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to support Rooms Amenities & Spa. This position is responsible for managing supplier relationships and contracts and supporting customer programs. 


Leveraging best practices and sound processes, the Manager will actively plan and then execute initiatives that result in successful contracts that satisfy customer needs and generate value and/or cost savings. This may also require good business judgment to adjust the process in order to deliver a successful contract in an efficient manner.


The Manager will collaborate with the larger Rooms Amenities team to support the overall category strategy, and will oversee a selection of contracts as assigned for which s/he will ensure the supplier meets their contractual commitments, that customers’ needs are being met, and ensure the contracts remain competitive with market changes.


The Manager will collaborate with Account Management and Sales/New Business teams and other internal stakeholders in the successful implementation of contracts and projects that support category growth and Avendra’s customers. Additionally, the Manager may interact directly with customers, including senior leadership positions, on high visibility projects, which will require a strong customer service mindset and ability to develop a relationship as a “trusted consultant”. 


This position will be hybrid based out of Rockville, MD.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:
•    Lead supplier negotiation and pricing strategy development efforts for supplier agreements. 
•    Collect, organize, and analyze purchasing data to identify areas of opportunities and measure contract and program successes, and then summarize findings and recommended actions for variety of stakeholders
•    Author Initiative Strategy Worksheets (ISWs) by thoughtfully planning initiatives; manages annual plan by creating realistic timelines and meeting milestones, communicates initiative status
•    Build and maintain supplier relationships; hold suppliers accountable to deliver contractual commitments
•    Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders on Sourcing activities and projects
•    Implements all aspects of client development teams for initiatives, i.e., identify the correct participants, solicit input at the appropriate times, run meetings, etc.
•    Manage Business Ownership activity for his/her portfolio of contracts and categories
•    Make presentations to internal and external teams and suppliers
•    Strong focus on delivering customer savings and enterprise value
Role Requirements:
•    Knowledge of amenities/personal care product category management preferred or ability to develop knowledge of new categories
•    Excellent data analysis capabilities. Ability to perform in-depth analysis, interpret data and present results into actionable steps to senior leadership
•    Strong technical sourcing process and system knowledge
•    Strong contracts and negotiation skills
•    Ability to build strong relationships with suppliers
•    Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
•    Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
•    Excellent organizational and time management skills
•    Excellent customer service skills and responsiveness  
•    Strong attention to detail and process orientation
•    Intermediate+ Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) 


Years of Relevant Experience:
•    8-10 years of experience in business management (operational or management consulting) with an understanding of procurement, contracting, supply chain optimization and/or category management. 
Education Requirements: 
•    BS/BA in relevant field or equivalent years' experience with education in supply chain, project management, business, economics or related field highly desired
