Job Description

Join our vibrant Human Resources team as a Housing and Activities Coordinator, where you'll play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for our staff. This position requires a blend of organizational skills, creativity, and interpersonal finesse to manage housing logistics and coordinate a variety of activities to enhance the overall experience. Seasonal role starting as soon as possible and ending the first week of September.

About Glacier Bay Lodge:

Ever wish you had more daylight hours? Nestled in between coastal mountains, incredible fjords, and Alaska's Inside Passage, Glacier Bay is a remote wilderness experience you don’t want to miss. Develop your hospitality skills in one of the most beautiful places in the world. With almost 20 hours of daylight during the summer, recreation and sightseeing opportunities are never-ending.​

3.3 million acres of mountains, glaciers, fjords, rainforest, and wildlife fill the environment of Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The only way to travel to us is by air or sea from Juneau to the friendly little town of Gustavus, your Gateway to Glacier Bay. However, once you arrive, every experience will be awe-inspiring.


Job Responsibilities

Housing Coordination:

Manage the allocation of housing assignments, ensuring efficient use of available space.
Coordinate move-in and move-out processes, providing assistance and support to residents or guests.
Address housing-related concerns, facilitate conflict resolution, and liaise with maintenance staff for timely issue resolution.
Manage employee guest visitor requests and approvals
Activity Planning:

Develop and implement a diverse range of engaging activities and events for residents or guests.
Collaborate with community members or guests to gather feedback and preferences for activity planning.
Source and negotiate contacts with vendors for off-site activities and events.
Communication and Promotion:

Maintain clear and open communication with residents or guests regarding housing information, upcoming activities, and community updates.
Utilize various communication channels to promote activities and events, fostering a sense of community engagement.
Budget Management:

Assist in developing and managing budgets for housing-related expenses and activities.
Monitor expenditures, seek cost-effective solutions, and provide regular updates on financial status.

Work closely with other departments, such as the employee dining room, and security, to ensure seamless coordination of events.
Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to enhance the variety of available activities and resources.
Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of housing assignments, activity plans, attendance, and resident feedback.
Generate regular reports on housing occupancy, activity participation, and budget utilization.


  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Recreation Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in housing management, event planning, or community engagement.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creativity and the ability to think outside the box when planning activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Customer-service-oriented with a positive and approachable demeanor.
