Job Description

The HVAC Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of work including the maintenance and repair of all HVAC equipment., electrical and plumbing at the Galen Center on the USC campus in Los Angeles, California.

 

COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $48.00 to $52.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time AND FOR ANY REASON, including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Understanding of air conditioning principles / systems and the relevant codes and industry standards that govern the maintenance of HVAC equipment.
  • Monitor the operation and make adjustments on refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, hot water systems, floor radiant heating systems; ELECTRICAL: emergency alarms and generators, fire pumps, 480 volt 3 phase distribution systems, 120 volt systems, components, lighting and low voltage systems. PLUMBING; boilers, piping, pumps, water softeners and water treatment.
  • Maintains, repairs, and replaces or installs a broad range of HVAC/R equipment and support systems for embassy operation and maintenance activities.  Checks, services, cleans and replaces filters in all A/C air handling and heating units and documents the same.
  • Perform scheduled in-depth preventative maintenance and service/repair of HVAC mechanical systems and sub-systems, DDC control systems, air-handling evaporation systems, chillers, rooftop equip., split systems, window units, heating/cooling water circulation systems, relater fans, piping, pumps, ice machines, and other components.
  • Cleans and maintains grills, ducts, and shaft ways in A/C, ventilating, and exhaust systems.
  • Completes preventative maintenance as scheduled and keeps records and accounts for tools used.
  • Understands and demonstrates knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration codes and practices, and coordinates work between/with other trades.
  • Responds to any emergency repair/maintenance situation as required if needed.
  • Ordering and purchasing with existing and new vendors.
  • Oversees annual REG 4 testing with vendor.
  • Reports to Aramark Facilities GM.

Qualifications

  • HVAC Freon Certification, Universal refrigerant certification.
  • At least 5 years specific trade and technical experience with installations, repairs and troubleshooting in a commercial environment.
  • HVAC – Plant maintenance experience with Chillers, hot water boilers, cooling towers, VFD’s, heat exchangers.
  • Ability to lift 20 - 50 lbs. regularly, climb stairs and ladders, and work indoors or outside in hot or cold temperatures.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24 X 7 environment.
  • Willing to take on other responsibilities as needed.
  • Must be able to communicate, read and understand instructions, safety rules and processes in English, some computer skills will be necessary.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, twisting, turning, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE) and the ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
