Job Description

Avendra is North America’s leading hospitality procurement services provider. Avendra was founded in 2001 by hospitality management companies looking to leverage buying power and create efficiencies in supply chain management. Acquired by Aramark in 2017, Avendra now manages supplier contracts and sourcing responsibilities for Aramark businesses in North America, other group purchasing organizations owned by Aramark, as well as our traditional hospitality clients. We combine years of hospitality expertise, purchasing power, services and software to help customers impact the bottom line, improve operational performance, and better serve guests and customers. Avendra is headquartered in Rockville, Maryland and employs about 400 associates.


The Director of Business Development – Hospitality focuses on sales to large-sized hotel management companies and other prospects in all of Avendra’s targeted markets. This position requires a professional who can collaborate with a team to drive revenue growth across a designated sales territory. Position Reports to VP, Business Development


This position is remote with travel across the Southwest/Southcentral region of the US. 

Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Manage portfolio of assigned prospects to close business and meet individual and team revenue goals
  • Develop long-term relationships with key buyers in industry/territory 
  • Deploy proactive selling strategies to sign up new accounts
  • Perform account research activity to develop qualified leads
  • Conduct sales calls on key C-level decision makers
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations to influence C-level buyers to join Avendra
  • Work with senior leadership and finance to develop wining supply chain proposals based on prospective clients’ business needs 
  • Work with various support teams to coordinate a “Discovery” engagement on select accounts to support the selling effort
  • Interact with senior management as needed on complex deals 


Secondary Responsibilities  

  • Represent Avendra at select industry conferences
  • Maintain current prospecting information and activity in Avendra’s CRM system
  • Work with Implementation and Account Management teams to seamlessly transition accounts once signed
    • Document account information using Avendra’s internal process and complete assignments and all paperwork in a timely manner

Role Requirements 

  • Experience within the hospitality industry required 
  • Prior direct sales and/or consulting experience 
  • Must demonstrate abilities in “solution selling” with strong negotiation skills
  • Experienced in complex sales with multiple buying influences
  • Must have excellent organizational skills as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge and experience in strategic supply chain management, sourcing and distribution
  • Experience selling services
  • Knowledge of Avendra’s targeted new market segments preferred
  • Executive Presence

  • public presentation/speaking skills
  • Should be prepared to manage others on an "as-needed" basis per role requirements


Overnight Travel Requirements:  Type: All modes of transportation, percentage 50-75%, trips spanning 3-5 nights average

Years of Relevant Experience.   10 or more years of experience

Education Requirements.   BS/BA in relevant field or equivalent years' experience. Master’s degree preferred.
