Job Description

This position supervises the day to day production activities related to the technical and operational aspects of the Entertainment Department’s programming and venues which include all activities related to design, construction, build out and strike of theatrical scenic elements and props, theatrical sound and lighting; implementation, adherence and training for all safety protocols and policies, and training and management of staff in related areas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all technical aspects for the department (sound, lights, scenic, etc); department technical personnel; and all department technical equipment inventory necessary to support entertainment programming for the park.
  • Provides technical drawings on all theatrical set designs, and direction on all build outs and sound / lighting elements
  • Responsible for build out of scenic elements such as flats, platforms, stairs, and all other theatrical scenery.
  • Manages multiple projects, keeping team members on track, on time, and on budget.
  • Liaison with contracted park technical support group 
  • Responsible for the management of the Technical and Production staff.
  • Partners with Senior Supervisor and all Leads to ensure that all seasonal production and technical aspects are acceptable and functional at each Entertainment venue.
  • Serves as liaison on Special projects, between the Manager, Senior Supervisor, Contractors and the rest of the team.
  • Maintains all park facilities used by the Entertainment Department
  • Responsible for implementing and managing inventory control systems for Entertainment storage facilities.
  • Schedules and leads all required safety walks per season with Stone Mountain Police Department and Park Safety
  • Ensures that all entertainment employees are trained relative to safety requirements
  • Responsible for the scheduling and training of all seasonal Technicians and Stage Managers and oversees their day to day operations
  • Required to become the department trainer for lift vehicles and fall protection safety.
  • Acts as a liaison and support for departmental employees, ensuring their concerns are met, their working conditions are satisfactory, and the quality of their performance meets the goals of the department and company.
  • Participates in and contributes to the development and orchestration of annual entertainment programming.
  • Participates in and contributes to the development and implementation of community outreach and enrichment programming.
  • Attends all Producer Walk-Throughs, Invitational Dress Rehearsals, and Department Trainings as assigned.
  • Attends all department production meetings.
  • Manages day to day operations of performances and entertainment staff as assigned.
  • Assists with sourcing and the acquisition of all necessary equipment and supplies required for daily operations, rehearsals, and strike as assigned.
  • Provides overall technical input on all aspects of entertainment product as assigned.
  • Manages product and associated budgets as assigned.
  • Oversees all facilities, equipment, and inventory associated with entertainment department as assigned.
  • Assists with seasonal auditions as assigned.
  • Participate in inter-departmental auditions and trainings
  • Audits employee performances; performs evaluations as assigned.
  • Conducts show/product/company research as assigned.
  • Provides administrative support as assigned.
  • Oversees and/or leads projects as assigned.
  • Directs individual product as assigned

Additional Job Responsibilities

Produces individual product as assigned:

  • Creates seasonal set design.
  • Assists with the purchase of props for seasonal product.
  • Creates and/or assists with the Lighting & Sound Design for seasonal product.
  • Creates and/or assists with the design and purchase of costumes for seasonal product.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - These are carried out in accordance with applicable safety policies and laws. Responsibilities include:

  • Directly supervise employees
  • Training, coaching, planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Ensuring staff adherence to all safety procedures and proper grooming standards

Additional duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to change or add to the duties of this position at anytime.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in theater, acting or theme park performances and/or production
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in theatrical scenic design and construction and/or in theatrical audio and lighting.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ supervisory experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Theater, Design, or related fields preferred
  • Must read, write, and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages a plus)
  • Must possess strong technical skills in theatrical lighting, audio systems, and theatrical set design and carpentry. Additional knowledge of electrical, rigging, special effects and video are preferred.
  • Must possess experience in safely operating theatrical scene shop equipment i.e. power tools, nail guns, saws, etc.
  • Must be able to operate and drive equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, and atvs, or have ability to be trained.
  • Must possess knowledge of theme park or entertainment venue safety regulations and protocols.
  • Must have strong project management skills, particularly focused on managing schedules, scope and cost of projects.
  • Must have experience managing large-scale, short and long running events.
  • Must have experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must have the ability to lead with confidence and calmness during stressful situations.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Must have working knowledge of AutoCad and Vectorworks, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the Internet
  • Must display strong attention to detail
  • Must have strong creative skills
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task and make responsible decisions
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence
  • Must have the ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Must handle confidential information responsibly
