Job Description

The Performance Nutrition Dietitian will collaborate with the Performance Dining Chef, Student Athletic Training Table Director, and Sun Devil Athletics Nutrition Team to develop and oversee menus for the Student Athletic Training Table (SATT) program. Responsibilities include ensuring quality control, accurate menu execution, and compliance with established standards. The role involves providing nutrition education, allergen management, and regular training for student-athletes and staff. Additionally, the Dietitian will facilitate feedback through a dining committee, integrate SATT services into athletics software, support sustainability initiatives, and oversee dietetic interns.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the Performance Dining Chef and Student Athletic Training Table Director, in conjunction with the Sun Devil Athletics Nutrition (SDAN) Sports RDs, to develop menus for the Student Athletic Training Table (SATT) program
  • Be present at meal services to answer questions related to food selections, nutritional quality, and dietary restrictions
  • Oversee quality control for SATT program services, ensuring accurate menu execution, proper food and allergen labeling, visual appeal, product quality, and compliance with all mutually agreed-upon standards
  • Assist with projecting guest guarantees for scheduled service times, and monitoring operating statistics
  • Under the direction of SDAN, develop and execute creative nutrition education initiatives and events for ASU student-athletes, such as cooking demos, food samplings and tabling events, theme meals, etc. 
  • Develop educational collateral for the SATT program and social media that benefits student-athletes (consistent with messaging provided by SDAN) 
  • Provide education and regular training for SATT staff on pertinent topics such as food safety and food allergies
  • Ensure menu items are appropriately labeled for all SATT program services and that meal accommodations are available and prepared appropriately for student-athletes with dietary restrictions 
  • Provide allergen education to student-athletes and staff during meal services for all SATT program services, and assist with managing a system for allergen free production and service
  • Facilitate a student-athlete dining committee to provide regular feedback on SATT program services (in collaboration with SDAN)
  • Management of integrating SATT program services into Sun Devil Athletics software and technologies (i.e., Teamworks, etc)

Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian credentialed with CDR
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and influence others regarding their nutrition 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing needs of the role, & strong organizational skills 
  • Experience and/or interest in food service, inventory management and menu design - strongly preferred
  • Experience working in an athletics nutrition setting and CSSD certification – strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience working in an athletics nutrition setting (ex: collegiate athletics, professional sports, Olympic team, etc.)
