Job Description

This is seasonal position that offers subsidized housing. The season dates are December - March.

The Mountain Operations Manager oversees all outdoor activities for the Badger Pass Ski Area, Yosemite. The Mountain Operations Manager is responsible for the ski lifts, grooming, lifts maintenance, and assisting with Ski Patrol and ski school as needed. The Mountain Operations  Manager is responsible for all aspect of leading the team in safely operating the equipment and operations.

Located in Central California in the Sierra Mountains, 4 hours east of San Francisco. The idea of National Parks began here when Abraham Lincoln signed the Yosemite Land Grant on June 30, 1864, during the Civil War. This was the first time the government signed the protection of public lands into public policy based on natural beauty and preservation for future generations.​

 

COMPENSATION: The salary rate for this position ranges from $66,560 to $67,500 depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

 

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time AND FOR ANY REASON, including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with ANSI Codes, Collective Bargaining Agreements, NPS and Aramark, policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Assumes responsibility for outdoor operations in order to provide proper guest service levels, safety procedures, and profitability.
  • Supervises and directs hourly staff providing training, motivation, and safe operation on a daily basis, addresses work issues and implements fair and consistent corrective counseling as needed.
  • Follow Aramark SAFE program and initiatives
  • Ensures that all ANSI Code, Aramark, and NPS procedures, controls systems and other established policies and procedures are understood and implemented by associates of the unit.
  • Assists in conducting interviews, hiring, promoting, evaluating, disciplining and discharging associates as needed.
  • Assumes responsibility for guest satisfaction and service recovery.
  • Daily inspections of all areas of the unit to ensure compliance with ANSI Codes and Aramark operating plans as well as adherence to policies, procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Order and maintain all supplies for the operations, maintain cost control efforts for labor and operating supplies and conduct meetings updating associates on daily goals and safety objectives.
  • Manage payroll and ensure all employees are paid appropriately and timely.
  • Write employee schedules and ensure compliance with all Aramark policies and CBA regulations.
  • On-board and train associates to be ready for the season
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year management experience required, previous experience working in snow operations preferred
  • Basic knowledge of lift operations, snow removal, ski and snowboard equipment and related machinery and labor costs controls.
  • Guest Service experience
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize properly between guest requests, administration tasks, safety, service and leadership needs.
  • Strong commitment to customer and client service, as well as demonstrate initiative, leadership and team building skills.
  • Strong supervisory/managerial skills and the ability to manage frequent change.
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard at least at intermediate level. Some snow mobile experience.
  • Must be able to work outdoors for the entire day in incremental weather and extreme cold temperatures for up to 8 hours.
