Marketing Assistant - University of South Carolina

Job Description

The Marketing Assistant will assist the marketing department in its promotional efforts and provide creative ideas to achieve our goals. This position will help you acquire marketing/communication skills and knowledge of various marketing strategies. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in marketing/communications and should be prepared to enter any fast-paced work environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with and create social media content for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Photography/Video editing experience preferred 
  • Assist with the conception and implementation of dining special events and initiatives including set up and take down.
  • Assist with samplings to promote new menu items and brands.
  • Assist with Dining Services tabling events and activities around campus to educate and sell meal plans.
  • Assist during Orientation, Open House, Accepted Student Day, etc.
  • Present information to guests, students, and incoming families to answer questions regarding Dining Services.
  • Surveying students to gain feedback for Dining Services team to implement within locations.
  • Office administrative tasks as needed
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guest, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Likes to have fun at work and demonstrates a competitive sales nature
  • Interest in sales/marketing
  • Interest in Social Media Content Creation
  • Desire to actively engage with customers to promote and grow meal plan sales
  • Demonstrates guest service skills
  • Work well independently and with a team
  • Self-motivated and strong communicator with managers, customers, and parents

Qualifications

•    Use logical thinking to perform a variety of office tasks that require special skills and knowledge
•    Make decisions based on company policy and good judgment
•    Follow instructions without close supervision
•    Speak and write clearly and accurately
•    Plan your own work and sometimes the work of others
•    Proficient with all Microsoft Applications
•    Requires basic accounting skills. 
•    Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: Write announcements, letters, summaries, and reports, using prescribed format
•    Minimum 2 years experience preferred 4 years exirience.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing.
