Description:
UNC-Wilmington Dining Sustainability is accepting student internship applications to serve as
Sustainability Ambassadors. The chosen applicant will have the opportunity to participate in
educational outreach events and gain experiential knowledge in the field of food service sustainability.
Campus Dining Sustainability programs include multi-stream waste diversion, microgreens and shoots,
aquaponics, environmental grants and certifications, sustainability education, and more!
UNCW Credit: EVS 490, EVS 497, and EVS 597
Start/End Date: Spring Semester (Jan. 9 – May 8)
Application Deadlines: December 15th
Student Duties:
- Maintain microgreens and shoots
operation
(planting/watering/harvesting)
- Monitor Wagoner Dining Hall
aquaponics system (water quality
testing)
- Assisting with events
(setup/breakdown, speaking with
students about sustainability)
- Comfortable dealing with waste
- Social media content generation
- General office assistance and research
Qualifications (General):
- Self-motivated/self-starter, flexible, proactive,
quick to learn.
- Currently enrolled at UNCW
- Ability to multi-task with very good
organizational skills and follow-through
- Experience, knowledge and interest in
sustainability, food service, and
sustainable food issues
- Comfortable interacting with others in
various settings, one on one or in groups
- Microsoft Office Skills: Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, etc.
