Position Description: Manage the Wholesale Reservations Department by handling inventory for rooms, tours, food/beverage and activities within Denali and Glacier Bay National Parks.


Essential Functions:

  • Work closely with major cruise line companies and local wholesalers
  • Handle block requests, space allocation and progress reports.
  • Monitor all reservations and requests of independent tour operators, wholesalers and leisure requests that flow through all Alaska inventory channels.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable to ensure timely billing and accurate documentation.
  • Understand the working relationship between sales, reservations, revenue management and PMS system.
  • Work with IT department to increase efficiency by creating import files for large wholesale room and tour manifest.
  • Communicate with front desks, food & beverage, activity, and transportation departments.
  • Hire/train/supervise a staff of 5 agents.
  • Participate in monthly sales calls.
  • Develop knowledge of Springer Miller System (SMS) reservation system, and take reservations over the phone.
  • Ability to respond to outstanding issues within a timely manner.


Status and Scope:

Reports to Alaska District Manager. 

  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have attention to detail. Must also be able to multi-task when required.
  • Strong ability to effectively execute MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel programs. Ability to utilize in-house computer system, Springer Miller System (SMS).
  • Previous experience and/or desire to work in tourism industry preferable
