Trash Tracker

 

Position Summary:

The Trash Tracker drives a houseboat and barge to designated sites around the lake to collect and track debris. Trash Trackers work with volunteers and in conjunction with the National Park Service.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Complete pre and post trip inspections and paperwork 
  • Operate boat in and out of the harbor, around the marina and around the lake Boat
  • Pilots are responsible for ensuring the safety of the vessel, passengers and crew
  • Ensure regulations are followed at all times
  •  Fuel and pump out boats Must be prepared to work a varied schedule according to business needs - which includes weekends. 
  • There will be 7 trips total during this time, from 5 to 7 days each. 
  • Identify maintenance and safety issues and take the correct steps to correct them
  • Must be honest, dependable and forthright, with the ability to confidently work without direct supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Status and Scope:
Must be committed to providing safe boat operations Boat Pilots are responsible for the safety of  the boat, passengers and crew Cannot be prone to motion sickness or sea sickness




Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Must be fluent in the English language in speaking, reading and writing
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be proficient in boat maintenance and navigation
  • Must be able to demonstrate navigation of Lake Powell
  • Must have a valid US Driver's License and pass a Motor Vehicle Record history check

Equipment Used:
Houseboat, 2 Way Radio, Boat Navigation System, PA System, Fuel Dock Transfer Pumps, Anchors, Other
 
Travel Requirements:   Little or no travel required (less than 10%)
 
Lifting Requirements:  
MEDIUM - Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
