Position Summary: The Rafting Attendant assists guests with rentals and orientation of the rules for rafting down the Merced River. Essential Functions: • Integral customer service contact for all of our recreation guests and should be confident in their ability to deal with the public on an ongoing basis. • Provide guests with proper equipment and information regarding the rafting and river conditions • Set up and break down of all rafts • Provide an orientation to all guests of the rules and regulations regarding rafting down the Merced River • Enforce all rafting rules, to ensure guest a fun and safe ride down the river • Load and unload rafts into and out of the truck • Assume all duties of the raft rentals including cleaning restrooms and stacking rafts • Maintain a positive attitude in high stress situations • Go the extra mile and follow through to ensure guest satisfaction • Must be able to work with diverse populations in a supportive and positive manner • Assist guests carrying rafts across the street to the river • Assist guests getting into and out of rafts • Works outdoors in heat and rain • Maintain rafts in working order, fixing minor holes • Thank all guests and say goodbye as they leave • Know and comply with all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies and energy • Report to work on time and in complete uniform • Other duties as assigned
Status and Scope:
Will report to Recreation Manager
• High School diploma or the equivalent required.
• Must speak, read, and understand English.
• Must be able to maintain professional courtesy in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Able to walk and stand for long periods of time outdoors in the heat
• Must possess a minimum current certification in Adult First Aid/CPR and a valid U.S. Drivers License.
Equipment Used: Telephone, Calculator, Photocopier, Computer, Rowing module
Travel Requirements: Little or No Travel (>10%)
Lifting Requirements: MEDIUM - Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
