Description:

Job Summary: Supervises and maintains operation of stationary high and low pressure boilers that supply heat and steam to various processes throughout the facility. Manages the team of Stationary Fireman that operate the boiler plant.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Use tools related to the maintenance and repair of broilers.

  • Must have basic mathematical skills as well as compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Read and interpret documents, instructions and procedural manuals.

  • Understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.



Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • High School diploma / GED; Third Class Engineer’s license.

  • Appropriate work permit/Visa.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment:

  • Loud work environment

  • Employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and mechanical processes in the space.

  • Hearing protection required at all times

 

Additional Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Operation of industrial type steam generation systems and apply knowledge of the types and uses of high- and low-pressure steam boilers.
  • Oversea two penthouse locations and the supervision of one fireman.
  • Ensure boiler operation so to maximize economic operation.
  • Support annual state inspections for the client.
  • Responsible for logbooks.
  • Proficient in water testing and making chemistry changes to optimize operation.
  • Possession of a Third Class or higher Stationary Engineer’s license based on standards established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and pursuant to Chapter 146 of the Massachusetts General Laws.
  • Understands the types and uses of pumps and valves used in water and chemical systems
  • Proficient in the methods and techniques of pipefitting
  • Can distinguish the types and uses of chemicals used in water treatment
  • Capable of following safety practices and procedures followed in power plants
  • Operation and repair of the types and uses of steam plant accessory equipment, such as valves, traps, pumps, high- and low-water cutouts, feed-water regulators, etc…
