Position Description:  Reports to the National Director. Responsible for the overall planning, direction and control of assigned projects nationally. Level of impact is national. Projects vary in size and number but generally range from between $10,000,000 - $50,000,000 and 3 to 10 projects per year. Generally manages 3-10 employees. Total revenue is over $20M.


Director, Design Build Projects is the national leader of Senior Project Managers and Project Managers and associated clients.  The Director’s responsibility is to manage design-build construction projects focused primarily on new buildings, building additions and renovations. These projects are multi-disciplined, typically with the architect being the primary driver of the design effort.  It is this individual’s responsibility to assign work to members of the design build team and ensuring the requisite levels of support from various technical support groups are scheduled and utilized in the support of the projects. 


The Director will have the responsibility for monitoring project cost and schedule to meet or exceed the expectations of the Client.  Identifying and managing Aramark risks associated with construction budgets and schedules will be key to this role as well.  Additionally, this role must understand construction contracting and lead the negotiation of substantial contracts both upstream with Clients and downstream with architects, construction managers and others as necessary.


The Director also acts as a technical liaison to strategic partners and Clients of Aramark and is responsible to build relationships, establish credibility as a construction expert, and understand their specific needs when developing a project.  The Director will work closely with the Business Development team to ensure alignment of project vision while supporting the overall Aramark growth goals. 


The role includes accountability for the Aramark operations, financial performance, employee retention/development, sales and overall success of the program.


  • Manage employee development and staffing
  • Responsible to manage Aramark financials meeting plan and growth targets.
  • Identify and mitigate construction cost and schedule risks
  • Deliver and manage complex and technical projects with minimal or no guidance including the design, development, construction and turnover of large scale new building and renovation projects
  • Drive and participate in sales and marketing
  • Preparation of comprehensive project budgets
  • Extensive knowledge of project financial monitoring/tracking/reporting
  • Acts as liaison with contracted architectural/engineering companies to ensure plan is being adhered to and needs met.
  • Supervises selection of planners, architects, contractors and other professionals.
  • Lead project managers and meet with users to determine needs and scope of work; monitors construction budgets.
  • Reviews documents to ensure consistency with plans, programs, budgets and campus standards.
  • Professional consultant contract administration
  • Construction oversight responsibilities.
  • Coordination of project close-out activities
  • Develops and maintains department administrative procedures and reports.
  • Assists the leadership team of strategic partners as needed to prepare materials and conduct professional architectural presentations for various senior level meetings and board presentations.



  • Significant experience in a higher education, k12, healthcare, B&I environments
  • Minimum of 12-18 years of demonstrated, increased responsibility in providing leadership for capital programs and design build services.
  • New building programing, planning and scenario development experience
  • Formal education in architecture, planning, engineering, or construction-related prog
