Description:

Our Leisure group within SLC specializes in serving consumers; recreational and entertainment needs in national and state parks, zoos, aquariums, science centers, museums and other day-use cultural attractions.

 

The scope of our operations includes operating lodging, conference and meeting space, houseboats and other marine activities, retail merchandise shops, fine dining restaurants, and interpretive tours in some of this country's most pristine protected lands and national parks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manages event planning functions and staff on a daily basis. Position has overall responsibility for executing all property meeting events with a seamless turnover from sales to operations.  Ensures team maximizes revenue opportunities by up-selling and accurately forecasting group rooms and meeting events. The position is responsible for achieving guest and employee satisfaction and for managing the financial performance of the department.  Core area of responsibility is the Conference Planning Managers, Conference Set-Up, Audio Visual, IT, Business Center, and Administrative Assistant(s). Position oversees the administrative processes associated with the pre-event and post-event phases of an event and the associated transitions between all event phases. Responsible for the strategic planning of the department as well at the budgeting and capital spending allocations.  The position is responsible for achieving guest and employee satisfaction and for managing the financial performance of the department.

 

Responsibilities:

Managing Meeting Planning Operations

  • Assigns all events turned over to Event Planning team.
  • Leads execution of activities to support the Event Management strategy.
  • Works with direct reports to review scheduled events and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts.
  • Leads discussions to review event complexity and proactively avoid service challenges and failures.
  • Works with highly complex or high profile groups when financial impact will be significant.
  • Works with the Food & Beverage team to ensure operational logistics are accurately presented and are to the property and industry standards.
  • Maintains inventories to maximize customer satisfaction and revenue opportunities.
  • Works directly with high profile and high revenue groups to ensure an excellent customer experience for all customers.

Leading Team

  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies excellent customer service and creates a positive atmosphere for guest relations.  Ensuring and providing exceptional customer service
  • Communicates vision for service delivery in Event Management to ensure guest is serviced from arrival to departure (e.g., greeting from maitre'd or event services team, food and beverage delivery, fulfillment of special requests, invitation to return).
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.

Providing and Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

  • Reviews comment cards, guest satisfaction results and other data to identify areas of improvement.
  • Shares plans with property leadership and ensures corrective action is taken to continuously improve guest satisfaction.

Conducting Human Resources Activities

  • Ensures staff receives on-going training to understand guest expectations.  Ensures there is on-going training on the Aramark Leadership Competencies and managing to those standards.
  • Works with Human Resources to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure a strategic staffing plan, recognition programs are in place, corrective action processes are applied with consistency and to ensure all the annual year-end processes are complete.  


Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree and at least three years of Conference Planning or Catering experience. 
  • Delphi sales and catering software experience is highly preferred. SGMP and/or MPI membership is desirable. 
  • The ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services is essential.
