Student Worker - University of Kentucky - Admin Dietetics Job Summary: The Health and Wellness assistant is an integral part of UK Dining's commitment to providing healthy options and effective nutrition and wellness programs to the UK campus community. This position reports directly to the Registered Dietitian. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities • Carry out logistical support, including clerical tasks, data entry, filing, copying & scheduling/calendar management • Develop and present nutrition and consumer education workshops. • Assist in collecting nutrition information including gathering data and assuring compliance with recipes. • Provide event support, including preparing materials and setting up event spaces • Proofread and edit marketing materials • Plan and direct in-service workshops for food service personnel • Word processing, data entry & Internet searches • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written & verbal • Strong clerical & organizational skills; attention to detail • Knowledge of nutrition-related diseases and disorders such as food allergies, celiac disease, IBS • Experience in food service operations • Demonstrated experience, interest or other commitment to nutrition and health and wellness. • Must be proficient in the use of computer, including successful experience with Microsoft products, including: o Microsoft Word - Intermediate level experience to create mail merge documents and templates and departmental communications o Microsoft Excel – Intermediate level experience to create worksheets for tracking data, importing and exporting data o Microsoft PowerPoint – Intermediate level experience to assist with creating presentations from templates • Knowledge of office procedures and practices, business management practices, research methods and data collections, communication and correspondence practices • Ability to work independently; read, understand, and interpret policies and procedures; develop written reports; work effectively with others; communicate effectively, both in writing and speech • Ability to brainstorm and give creative input when developing educational health and wellness events that will interest young adults • Must be able to stand on feet for an extended period of time
