Description:

Job Summary: 

The lead student worker oversees the operations of their location to ensure all food is served to health and safety regulation, ensures that work spaces are clean, and that customers are satisfied with their service. Assists in managing staff and plays a large role in the ability to maintain positive employee relations and a positive team environment. Designated locations are deemed necessary be the catering event. Transporting food product, materials, and loading/unloading the catering vehicles in all weather conditions. 

 

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for opening & closing the building according to the expectations of the management team
  • Oversee setting up and breaking down of events
  • Responsible for cash handling
  • Must have high level knowledge of catering operating procedures and ability to train the staff to effectively service the customer
  • Ensure staff accurately completes temperature logs and other logs necessary to the catering department
  • Delegates tasks to employees as necessary and follows up
  • Provides on-going coaching and performance feedback to staff members
  • Assist managers with employee discipline sessions, attendance logs, and maintaining up to date contact information
  • Inform management of escalating employee conduct issues
  • Responsible for making sure staff properly disposes of waste
  • Handle and customer complaints with assistance from the manager on duty while maintaining a positive attitude and smile
  • Oversee staffing during peak times of operation and deal with labor shortages as needed
  • Assist managers with administrative tasks, such as scheduling, ordering, and inventory responsibilities
  • Ensure each event has the equipment and supplies needed to serve the customers
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Ensure uniform compliance of staff members
  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing all safety standards and assisting with STEP Observations
  • Understand the proper use and storage of chemicals used in the location. Be familiar with the Chemical MSDS book and its contents
  • Report all injuries immediately to you manager/supervisor
  • Prepare banquet rooms for functions
  • Display excellent customer service and maintain a well groomed, neat appearance
  • Load and unload event equipment and food into catering vehicles, following all truck safety procedures
  • Maintain storage rooms and supplies in an orderly fashion
  • Maintain equipment and all other catering supplies
  • Cross train and work in other dining locations as needed


Qualifications:

MUST BE ABLE TO:

  • Skillfully use hand tools or machines needed for your work
  • Read instructions for items to be made
  • Use math to calculate change
  • Work with client(s) with tact and diplomacy
  • Perform work that is routine and organized
  • Present professional appearance
  • Pass a criminal background check

  • High School diploma/GED

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lifting twenty (20) pounds unassisted and more with assistance; frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds
  • Reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, seeing, standing, walking
  • Inside Job (defined as spending approximately 75% or more of the time inside. 
  • Temperature changes: variations in temperature, which are sufficiently marked and abrupt to cause noticeable bodily reactions.
