Based in Fresno, CA;The Labor/Payroll Manager is responsible for a wide variety of tasks related to employee/payroll records including preparing, processing, and maintaining Payroll Standards and Compliance in executing tasks to accurately pay assigned employees. Additionally, they lead the research and resolution of profit center and employee-related issues, perform diverse tasks to meet Payroll weekly production timeframes, and assist with training as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and process weekly payroll, transfer payroll as needed, review and analyze payroll projections and interact with managers and employees as required to perform these duties
  • Forecasting daily labor, processing payroll edits, updating hourly employee vacation accruals, entering bi-annual employee increases per the union contract and completing unemployment claims
  • Utilize reporting tools, and ensure data is developed and organized to meet reporting needs
  • Ensure reports are recorded accurately and timely
  • Maintain logs and monitor employee time
  • Analyze reports and identify trends and discrepancies
  • Resolve issues regarding payroll for week end processing
  • Assist managers in completing line items in payroll system to minimize discrepancies to avoid costly errors by taking a pro-active approach
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with employees, management, and HR staff to resolve issues timely and discuss ways to minimize error going forward
  • Coach and develop a strong staff that supports the payroll needs
  • Partner with all levels of management to ensure that processes are utilized to complete daily and weekly payroll processes
  • Assist in on boarding seasonal employees
  • Cross train and assist with other departments as needed (i.e. cash management and accounts payable)


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in managing a payroll function
  • Experience with Kronos is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in a high-volume/fast-paced environment required
  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills, accuracy, attention to detail and an ability to work independently
  • Must be focused on delivering quality customer outcomes
