A  Senior Category Specialist should be self-motivated and a thought leader.  You are responsible for managing overall supplier relationships, negotiating, coordinating, and assuring assigned categories are meeting the agreed upon savings, growth and  business objectives. You will be responsible for the supplier base within your category. Doing all necessary analytics, strategically negotiating cost, ensuring top quality management, and on-time delivery.  You are responsible for evaluating near-term and long term plans to validate that category priorities are balanced with Aramark business needs.  You will define the appropriate savings objectives, set the right milestones and lead the execution by driving initiatives across functional teams. 



  • Engage closely with business partners within the category to develop deep understanding of business goals and objectives.
  • Provide sourcing help within category for business partners
  • Follow up on any fulfillment or quality concerns with suppliers in your category
  • In partnership with the business, develop, influence and implement category strategies across the business, including development and execution of RFI/RFP documents; develop selection criteria and drive selection of suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams; conduct supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management.
  • Identify and drive new opportunities to improve category performance
  • Communicate category strategies to leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure that business expectations are being met.
  • Develop category strategies in concert with business partners and champion category review meetings with cross-functional team members to manage overall performance. Including a review of category projections versus actual and make adjustments as needed (annual, quarterly and monthly).
  • Drive consolidation/leverage of spend and seek out synergies across the enterprise where applicable, Deliver annual budgeted cost savings for the assigned categories across the enterprise.
  • Ensure that strategies, sourcing plans and actions are aligned to deliver agreed upon contributions to savings goals and recurrent spend is balanced through coordinated sourcing activities.
  • Lead Supplier Review meetings within your category
  • Develop and maintain an effective supply base that meets the needs of our business.
  • Create, nurture, and enhance supplier relationships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Reports to Senior Director of Procurement



  • Acute sense of urgency, excellent customer service skills and demeanor
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong command of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; MS Access a plus
  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures



  • 3+ years’ experience with supplier management and procurement required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business related discipline (e.g. Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Finance, Statistics, and Quantitative Business Analysis) or related field. .
  • Acute sense of urgency, excellent customer service skills and demeanor
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong command of Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; MS Access a plus
